Shining Force III Walkthrough - Scenario 3 -
|
Final Chapter - Shining Force Forever
|
Remotest Cathedral
You can now choose to control either of the three heroes, Julian, Medion and Synbios. You start off as Synbios, but to change character just talk to one of the other two and answer 'yes' to their question. the priest is in the cathedral so if you killed any of Synbios' or Medion's forces earlier you should revive them now. To promote your forces now you don't talk to the priest, but talk to Keeper at the altar who will promote anyone over level 20 to their final promotions. By now, money should be no object as the totals of all three force's gold coins are added together and if you did a lot of training in the hero's tests in the previous scenarioes then that will be a lot of money. There is also a pooled item storage so all forces can access the items Julian's force has gathered up to (and beyond) this point. There are three doorways in the main hall of the cathedral, the western door leads to the headquarters where all of Synbios', Medion's and Julian's armies are gathered (save for those in the main hall). If you go into Julian's HQ you should be able to find Unoma sitting in the far corner, eating Ramen noodles. Talk to him with Julian and he will join the force!

The eastern door of the main hall leads outside and from there to the hero's test where you can train your characters to high levels for the final battles. If you beat the hero's test with each force you get the best weapon their leader can equip, Julian will recieve the Force Blade, Synbios will get the Shining Sword and Medion will get the Ark Rapier.
Hero's Test
Finally, the southern door will lead outside of the cathedral and into Remotest. The rooms on the inside house worshippers of Elbesem (presumably) while the houses outside the main building are where the followers of Bulzome live, even the little kids wear those masks! Outside is where you will find the shops and smithy.
When you finally want to fight Bulzome talk to Benetram with Julian, choose 'advice' (the top one of the four options) and answer 'yes' to his question

Pappets has the ability to train monsters, if you kill a monster it will join the force (answer 'yes' to the question after a monster dies) as an additional, controlable character. If you have a full force though then you can only have one monster in the force.
Before the confrontation with Bulzome; Julian, Medion, Synbios and their armies must first engage in a massive battle outside the Divine Palace to reveal the steps leading up the mountains to the palace itself. The three battles all take place at the same time so when your turn is over on Synbios' battle it moves to Medion's battle then to Julian's and back once again to Synbios'. They must all win their battles before Julian's force can proceed to the Divine Palace to challenge Bulzome.

Take out the initial troops quickly and then move closer to draw out the enemies surrounding the boss. Keep your force spread out but close together and make sure you healers can get to anyone. Don't let the enemies gang up on you as you could stand to lose some characters that way. Once the majority of his soldiers have been defeated, move in and kill the Bulzome High Priest, save your healers' MP to cast healing spells should his inferno spell do much damage.

As with Synbios' battle, defeat the first line of troops swiftly then push forward and lure out those surrounding the boss. This battle is actually easier than Synbios' as the enemies aren't as concentrated around the boss (although that makes it harder to spark the lot of them) and the trees aren't as obstructive as the stone pillars in Synbios' battle. Once again, gang up on the boss and show him who's in control.

At the beginning of each turn the Walcuray performs its atack, the range of which stretches right up to the ramp infront of Julian's force. You can hide in the crevices and inlets on the walls but you will probably take damage from Walcuray's attack at some point or other. You can destroy the Staff of Negative Strength with Gracia's Shining spell but it's not worth doing as you need his MP for healing, and once you're behind the staff, Walcuray cannot harm you anymore. Sometimes, especially if Synbios and Medion's forces are weak, the two High Priests in the other battles will send some Demon Knights and Durahans to assist Basanda in the middle, these are the enemies shaded blue in the table above.
Don't let Basanda and Braff block you from reaching the little hill they are on, rush some characters up first to occupy the spaces around the top of the ramp, then send the rest, or as many of, the force up with them. Concentrate on killing either one of them first then move onto the other and gang up on them. If you choose to attack Braff first, suck as much of Basanda's MP away with Brigit's Drain spell as you can, and vice versa if you choose to kill Basanda first.
End of Battle
The Bulzome High Priests, Braff and Basanda are defeated and the steps to the Divine Palace appear! Julian's force rushes forward for the final conflict with the Bulzome sect!

Don't try taking on the Fiale, Dessheren and Goriate all at once, try to keep them apart and deal with them infividually. Make Dessheren your first target so you can save Jane. When Dessheren in killed, Jane will be released from the energy shield at the end of the current turn and will becomd an enemy, ruinning around doing 'Jane' things (i.e. torching anyone within torching distance). However, if you cast Gracia's blessing spell on her during this turn (when she's still in the shield), she will join your force, albeit as a NPC character. Also, by saving her with the blessing spell and keeping her alive, Jane will become available as a playable character in the premium disc's battle mode. Bulzome can attack anyone on the platform with his laser eyes special which can do a lot of damage, but like summon spells it spreads out the damage between multiple targets, so don't send anyone up there alone (especially when fighting Goriate). Kill Fiale and Goriate and Bulzome transforms into his true form, now you can do some damage to him as his shield is gone.
Bulzome takes two actions per turn, one determined by his agility and another at the end of every turn. He recovers 30 HP after each action and with his 2400 HP the battle is going to be long. Position your three strongest fighters in the spaces infront of Bulzome, cast attack on them and let rip. Place magic users behind them and keep your healers nearby. Place an archer on each of the steps leading to Bulzome's platform as they will be able to hit Bulzome from there as well as snipe the respawning Demon Knights that come to pester you. Don't send flying characters round to the side of Bulzome if you only have one in the force as Bulzome will easily kill them, keep them bunched together so that Bulzome's laser eyes special doesn't kill them. Keep attacking, using recovery items to replenish your MP levels for you magicians if needs be and knaw away at Bulzome until finally keels over and dies, sort of.
End of Battle
Bulzome is finally defeated but he is not yet destroyed, Gracia uses his powers as an innovator to defeat Bulzome completely and barely escapes with his own life. Synbios and Medion arrive in the Divine Palace and help Julian's force recover from the blast that wiped out Bulzome. If Jane wasn't killed in the battle, she returns with the shining force to Remotest and accompanies Julian further north while everyone else returns to civilisation. If Jane was killed, then Julian continues on his journet alone...
